Anything for Bee Movie

Aidan is 3 1/2 years old and today was the first time he has had his picture professionally taken. Oh yes, it's true, and you ALL know why that is. During his first 9 months the idea of him not crying long enough to have one taken was hysterical to us. When he was 1 we actually went as far as to take him to the studio...it didn't turn out well...and we haven't tried since :) I knew picture day was coming up at preschool but didn't hold out much hope that he'd go for it. When I first brought it up this morning he said, "no way, Mama, I don't want to take a picture, I won't!". When we got to preschool he acted like he might do it so I stayed. We watched the other kids take their picture but when his time came, he wouldn't go. I told him that was fine, no big deal. His teacher said she'd take him over after I left and see if she could get him to go for it. Earlier in the morning I had told Aidan that if he would let them take a picture of him, he could get a new movie, but that he didn't have to, it was his choice. Ever since he watched a few clips of Bee Movie on the computer a few weeks ago he's been obsessed so that was the movie he said he'd get. I called later in the afternoon and got the word, he not only took a great picture with no trouble at all but he also stood still for the class photo too! I'm so proud of him!!! We predict a lot of Bee Movie in our future. 'Bee' on the lookout for the pictures, I can't wait to get them!

Easter Madness

Since we were going to spend Easter with Nana and Opa, The Easter Bunny hid his eggs in our living room on Friday night. Well, The Easter Bunny forgot that Aidan gets up in the middle of the night to get in bed with Mom and Dad. At 4am, we were awoken by the shrill squeal of Aidan telling us that he found eggs! Yup, at 4am we hunted Easter eggs and yes, he started eating the candy he found in his eggs right then. This marked the beginning of a 2 day sugar high...

Finally Aidan went back to bed and The Easter Bunny was able to rehide all his eggs and leave Easter baskets. At a more reasonable 8:30am, we all got up to start our Easter a day early. I think Aidan thought The Easter Bunny had left him 2 Easter baskets and he couldn't be convinced that one might be for Asher - that's just silly I guess.

"Awesome"

This evening as we were preparing Aidan's plate for dinner he made use of his newest vocabulary word for the first time when he told us, "Oh, that looks awesome!".

No Tractor

A convo between Aidan and his friend

Gavin - "Do you have a tractor?"

Aidan - "No, I don't have a tractor at my house."

Gavin - "But do you have a tractor?"

Aidan - "No, I don't have tractors."

Gavin - "But do you have a hitch?"

Aidan - "Nope, no tractor."

Gavin - "A hitch, does it have a hitch?"

Aidan - in a slightly irritated tone, "I don't even know what a hitch is!"

Leaps and Bounds

Aidan's preschool saga has taken a big upturn. Drop off is always dramatic but it's becoming less and less each time now. At first, one of his teachers would have to hold him while I took off (at great physical risk to them selves - those of you who have witnessed that insanity know what I mean). Then it progressed to him just sitting in the corner saying very pathetic things like, "no, Momma, please don't leave me here, I love you, please Momma!" and shooting me dirty looks as I left. During the day, he would participate in most activities when asked but there are two things he would simply refuse to do - have a snack and sit with the other kids while they sing songs. I guess he has finally become comfortable with everybody there because all of a sudden today he did both of those things without any push from anyone. He was also 'line leader' for helping clean up and apparently you can't get any cooler than 'line leader' in the Shining Stars class. He even started calling his teachers by name! I always knew he would come around eventually but he is so stubborn, I knew it could take months but I think his teachers had given up hope. He's pretty proud of himself too, I might add. He keeps telling me, "oh, I was so good today, I 'be-serb' a treat".
